[Shangqi Spring Mountain Map Volume]
Spring Mountain Map Volume, Yuan Dynasty, Shangqi painting, silk, color, 39.6cm vertical, 214.5cm horizontal
Sign “Cao Nan Shang Qi De Fu”. There are eight imperial seals in the Qing Dynasty, including Qianlong, Jiaqing and Xuantong
This picture is the only signature work of Shang Qi. In the distant view, the peaks and mountains are covered with emerald, and the smoke cage and fog cover; Close view of trees in the jungle, green in spring; The distant view and the close view are lined with the ancient bridge of Sanqi, which adds to the vast space. There are many objects painted in the picture, which shows the author’s comprehensive skills and the ability of camp modeling. The stone carvings near Jingshan are meticulous. First, they are outlined in thick ink, and then the stone surface is stained with a dark green halo. This not only shows the texture of the rock, but also reflects the spring of the mountains and rivers. In the distant view, the peaks are mainly painted with thick and light ink or blue halo, and the vast mountains set off a magnificent momentum for the whole painting. The trees in the spot are dark and beautiful, but the brushwork is full of changes. The dry and wet brush are used to hook the trunk and leaves near the tree, and the painting method is neat, which is similar to the painting style of the Southern Song Dynasty; The distant trees are either horizontally pointed at the side front or vertically pointed at the center front, with only tree appearance but not tree shape. Although the near trees and far trees have different shapes, they together adorn the scene of spring with everything blooming and the mountains stained with green. This is a landscape masterpiece with high unity of formal beauty and artistic charm
It is recorded in the First Edition of Shiqu Treasure Collection of the Qing Dynasty
