Xuejie Weng and Zhang Shunzi jointly draw the axis of the eagle and cypress

[Xuejie Weng and Zhang Shunzi jointly painted the axis of the eagle and cypress map]

The axis of the eagle and cypress map, made by Xuejie Weng and Zhang Shikui in the Yuan Dynasty, is made of silk, colored, 147.3 cm in the vertical and 96.8 cm in the horizontal
This picture was drawn by two painters, Xuejiewang and Zhang Shikui. The picture shows an ancient juniper among the rocks, with strong branches and new leaves. The old man is leaning sideways, and a goshawk stands upright on it with its head raised, eyes bright, claws sharp, and grasping the branches, giving people a sense of firmness and fearlessness in the face of danger. In the picture, the goshawk is written in meticulous and heavy color method, with exquisite depiction and exquisite brushwork, which is reminiscent of the court-style flower-and-bird painting of the Song Dynasty. Gu Huishan stone is painted in a freehand style completely, which is written by Zhang Shunzi. The style of painting is slightly rough, but it is quite powerful. Although the goshawk, the mountain stone and the ancient cypress were written by different people, they cooperated with each other very well, without abrupt and incongruous feeling
The title of the author in the upper right corner of this picture reads: “Weng painted Huang Ying in the snow world, Kui painted Gu Hui, and Tongcheng Kou did a good deed.” The next seal is two seals, and the seal is indistinguishable. In the lower left corner, there are seals of “Liang” and “Huang Zhou’s Treasure”
This painting was collected by Huang Zhou, a famous painter, and later donated to the Palace Museum.
