In 1902, Taikoo Shipping (now Taikoo Co., Ltd., English name Taikoo, was founded in Liverpool, England, in the early 19th century. At that time, it was only a small import and export company. Today, Taikoo Shipping is one of the major listed companies in Hong Kong) established the Blue Chimney Ship Company, which purchased land and built a wharf on the Huangpu River between the current Yangjing Port in Pudong and Minsheng Road in Shanghai, The pier is also called Blue Chimney

In 1908-1910, Swire built Berths No. 1 and No. 2, and continued to build Berths No. 3 and No. 4 in 1920-24. The total length of the wharf is 2500 feet, which can accommodate four 10000 ton ocean going ships at the same time. The Blue Chimney Wharf was the largest and most advanced wharf in Shanghai Port at that time

在仓库楼顶上朝东北方向望向浦江下游,对岸杨树浦一带的码头、工厂绵延不绝,林立的烟囱吐着黑烟。

从高处向北俯瞰蓝烟囱码头办公楼和黄浦江,轮船烟囱吐着浓浓黑烟,杨树浦一带工厂林立的烟囱也一个赛一个争相冒着烟,浦江两岸上空被黑雾笼罩着。

从高处俯瞰蓝烟囱码头的六号仓。

蓝烟囱码头不仅安装了轨道移动式吊车,而且建有危险品仓库,用以储存军火,是上海港第一座危险品专用仓库,技术方面来说在当时是非常先进的。
