“The autumn wind blows down the red rain,” is originally a poem by Shi Tao, a monk who painted in the early Qing Dynasty. Fu Baoshi highly praised the innovative spirit of Shi Tao’s paintings, and then conducted in-depth research on his deeds and art. He has successively published multiple papers elaborating on them. It can be said that he has reached a level of communication with Shi Tao’s thoughts and spirit, and has a profound and detailed understanding of his poetry. Therefore, the poetic imagery of Shi Tao in his works fully reflects the spirit of the original text. The two scholars in the picture are sitting in a boat, exchanging ideas with each other through cups and drinking wine. They are in high spirits. A burst of autumn wind strikes, and the leaves are colorful, as if the red rain is falling, with a bleak artistic conception. The upper part of the screen has uneven branches, while the lower part only has a boat, which is complex and simple, complementing each other. The composition does not seek to be dense, clean and concise, highlighting the theme, achieving a concise and comprehensive artistic effect
