Chen Shizeng Wisteria Chart Axis

[Chen Shizeng’s Wisteria Painting Axis]

The “Wisteria Painting” axis, in modern times, is painted by Chen Shizeng, in paper, with colors, 137 centimeters vertically and 32.7 centimeters horizontally
The title on the upper right side of this picture reads: “Mr. Xiukang is elegant and upright. In the summer of Guihai, Chen Hengke repaired the water.” The seal is “Shi”
“Guihai” refers to the twelfth year of the Republic of China (1923)
This drawing belongs to the “Red Flower Ink Leaf” drawing method. The wisteria is a common garden plant in traditional Chinese dwellings. It has both flowers and leaves for people to enjoy, as well as shade for people to enjoy. During the blooming season, clusters of lavender flowers hang from the leaves, with faint colors and a lingering aroma. The biggest feature of Chen Shizeng’s wisteria flower painting is his composition. Painting works often highlight the drooping sensation of vines, so flowers are often placed at the top of the painting and the lower part is empty. Chen Shizeng took the opposite approach, concentrating on the lower part of the composition and echoing it with a small amount of flower branches at the upper end to achieve a balance in the picture. The forceful and forceful brushwork shows the strength and vigor of Old Teng.
