Xiang Shengmo’s Rainy Mountain Studio Axis

[Axis of Xiang Shengmo’s Yumanshan Zhai]

Axis of “Yumanshan Zhai”, the eighth year of Chongzhen’s reign in the Ming Dynasty (1635), Xiang Shengmo’s painting, paper version, ink pen, 121.4 cm in length and 32.4 cm in width
The title of this running script is: “The rain is full of mountains in September and autumn, and the green smoke is often near the pool stream. When I sleep in the morning, I grind some ink, and write a short eulogy by Lin Quan. In the autumn of 1911, Xiang Shengmo wrote it.” After that, I seal the “Four Records of Lin Quan” and “The other name is Yi An”
“Yihai” is the eighth year of Chongzhen in the Ming Dynasty (1635). The author was 39 years old
The picture shows mountains and deep ravines, waterfalls and clear streams, temples are hidden among dense trees and towering peaks, and high scholars walk on the bridge with sticks to seek seclusion. The mountains and stones are taken from Huang Gongwang of the Yuan Dynasty, and the strokes are thick and simple. The painting of trees is combined with the brushwork of Song Dynasty. The branches, leaves and moss are all in the center of the brush, which is beautiful and calm. The artistic conception of the picture is profound. The author describes his activities of traveling and appreciating in the mountains and forests in the late autumn, which reflects the state of mind of the literati and doctors in the late Ming Dynasty who were tired of the official career and lived in seclusion.
