Old picture axis of Lanying Creek Bridge

[Lanying Xiqiao Ancient Picture Axis]

Xiqiao Ancient Picture Axis, the second year of tomorrow’s opening (1622), Lanying painting, silk version, color setting, 172 cm vertical and 61.3 cm horizontal
This picture reads: “The autumn moon in the second year of the Tianqi Festival was painted in Qingyue Pavilion. Blue Ying.” The seal of “Blue Ying in Qiantang” is stamped after it
The “Second Year of the Apocalypse” is 1622, and Lan Ying was 38 years old
In the picture, there are clouds rising from the mountains, waterfalls flying and springs flowing, mountains moving like a dragon, and the weather is high and broad. At the foot of the mountain, the pines and gullies turn over the waves, the fisherman’s boat berths on the bank, and the two high men sit on the stone bridge to talk. The work imitates Wang Meng’s landscape painting method at the end of the Yuan Dynasty and the beginning of the Ming Dynasty. The mountains and stones are mainly covered with hemp and lotus leaves. The strokes are sharp, sharp, and meticulous. The pine tree is rich in layers and the ink is exquisite, the moss spots are scattered, and the clouds are properly dyed. It shows Lan Ying’s early years of assiduous study and preliminary blending ability of the traditional, which is one of the few good structures representing his early landscape.
