[Fan page of Chen Daofu Yunshan Map]
Fan page of Yunshan Map, Ming Dynasty, Chen Daofu, gold paper, ink pen, 17.4 cm in length and 51 cm in width
The fan page has its own title: “Tao Fu.” with the seal of “Bai Yang Shan Ren” Zhu Wenyin
The picture depicts the scenery of the south of the Yangtze River with undulating mists and clouds. The rocks and trees are all made of thick and light ink dots, and the ink is thick and moist, which fully shows the humid weather and the charm of mountains and waters in the south of the Yangtze River. The large area of clouds and mists painted with a few strokes in the picture not only shows the effect of diffuse transpiration, but also effectively connects the Pinghu Lake and trees in the close view with the mountains in the distant view, making the painting full and varied, with both a comfortable and pleasant sense of air permeability and a sense of space from near to far, which is quite the essence of Song Mifu and Mi Youren’s landscape
Chen Daofu’s landscape paintings were directly inherited from Wen Zhengming and Shen Zhou. However, he was more fond of Mi’s Yunshan and created a large number of paintings imitating Mi’s landscapes. In addition to this work, there are also “Mimi Cloud Mountain” volume (collected by the Flier Art Museum of the United States), “Mimi Mountain” volume (collected by the Palace Museum), “Mimi Mountain” volume (collected by the Tianjin Museum), and so on
