Cultural symbol: axis of Mingxi Bridge

[Wenzheng Mingxi Bridge Staff Drawing Axis]

Xiqiao Staff Drawing Axis, Ming Dynasty, Wenzheng Minghua, paper version, ink pen, 95.8 cm vertical, 48.7 cm horizontal
This running script is titled with a poem of seven unique poems: “A short coat and light clothes are rotten to roam, and the water is flowing in the west in late spring. The day is long, and the trees are green, and the rain is over the remote mountains, and the jade is floating.” After that, the seals of “Wen Zheng Ming” and “Jade Qing Shan Fang” are stamped. In the lower right corner, there are “Magnolia Hall Seal” and “World Beauty Hall Seal” and “Ma Han Zhong Seal” in the heart of the painting. On the edge of the frame and on the outside, there are contemporary calligrapher and painter Di Baoxian (Pingzi) who wrote a poem and wrote it down, and the seal was sealed with “the owner of the Equality Pavilion”. The inscription details the delivery and collection process of this painting, which was originally bought by his father in the late Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty, and which was re-mounted by him in the summer and June of the year of Jiazi (1924)
In the painting, the ancient wood is lush, the valley is quiet, the water on the stream is stagnant, and one person stands at the end of the bridge and sticks to watch the flow. There are obvious traces of Ni Zan and Wu Zhen in the “Four Great Masters of the Yuan Dynasty”. The author combines the thin and thin stones of Ni Zan with the thick and thick trees of Wu Zhen. The strokes are steady and vigorous, and the charm is mellow. In addition, the detailed portrayal of the close view and the virtual performance of the vision highlight the spirit of the literati to travel in the mountains and forests and enjoy themselves.
