Dong Qichang Landscape Volume

[Dong Qichang Landscape Volume]

Landscape Volume, Ming Dynasty, Dong Qichang’s painting, paper edition, ink brush, 23.3 cm vertically and 200.6 cm horizontally
Self title: “When you walk to a poor place and sit and watch the clouds rise, you will meet Lin Sen by chance, and you will be late to return. Xuanzai.” Seal “Zongbo Bachelor” and “Dong Xuanzai”
The seal of the seal is “Shiqu Treasure Collection”, “Qianqing Palace Treasure Collection”, “Qianlong Appreciation”, “Sanxi Hall Precise Seal”, etc
The picture is full of ups and downs, rivers and lakes, and houses scattered among them. Dong Qichang’s paintings often focus on the comprehensive display of pen and ink skills, but not on the location management and other aspects, so is this volume. In this painting, there are traces of the interactive use of various brush and ink techniques. The distant mountains are gently textured with hemp, vaguely reflecting the brushwork of Huang Gongwang’s “Dwelling in Fuchun Mountain”. The houses, bridges and moss in the close view are blunt and clumsy, like Shen Zhou. The overall ink color of the picture is thick, green and rich in layers
The poem in the picture is excerpted from the poem “Farewell to Zhongnan” by Wang Wei, a famous poet in the Tang Dynasty. However, the last sentence is slightly changed, and the original sentence is “talking and laughing without return”
The first edition of Shiqu Baoji is described.
