The Painting of the Autumn River to be Crossing was painted in Xinmao (1351), the eleventh year of Emperor Zhizheng of Yuan Shun. This painting has the painter’s own understanding: “On March 10th and 6th of Zhizheng Xinmao, Shengmaozi of Wu Tang Dynasty made the autumn river to be crossed for halogen white.”. There are also inscriptions of Laopu, Yingyu Temple, Liu Gongxu, Zhuang Guangyi, Yu Ying, and a seven-character poem written by Emperor Gaozong of the Qing Dynasty in 1765
The painting is based on a two-part and far-reaching composition method. The near trees are luxuriant, the distant mountains are undulating, and the middle of the picture is clear, the reeds and wild geese are flying, and the wind is blowing in the trees, creating a clear autumn atmosphere. On the shore, an old Confucian man and a schoolboy sat on the ground waiting for the ferry, and a boat carrying passengers in the river came by rowing, with a quiet mood. The painting method is slightly close to Dong Yuan, and the brush is thin, sharp and hard. It is the representative work of Sheng
