Fang Congyi Wuyi’s Boat Chart Axis

[Fang Congyi’s Boat Chart Axis]

The “Boat Chart of Wuyi” axis, Yuan, written by Fang Congyi, paper, ink, 74.4 cm long, 27.8 cm horizontal
This picture shows the scenery of Mount Wuyi. Mount Wuyi is located in the southwest of Chong’an County, Fujian Province today. It stretches for more than 100 miles, with 36 peaks and 37 rocks. There are nine bends in the water, making it a scenic spot in the south of China. In ancient times, Taoism called it the 16th Cave, which is the area where Taoism activities are concentrated. This picture is made by Fang Congyi for Zhou Jingjin, a fellow Taoist. On the right side of the picture, there is a towering peak, and a small boat is slowly rowing in the water of the peak. The rocks on the bank are jagged, and the trees are clustered among them. The ink is thick and smooth. The mountain body is chapped and dyed with long longitudinal lines to enhance its sense of steepness and towering. The layout is peculiar, the brushwork is changeable, and the ancient method is used for one’s own use, showing a unique artistic style
The title of the official script on the upper right of this picture is “Wuyi Boat”. On the left side, I read from myself: “Jing Jin signed the Duke of Zhou, near the orchid and Wuyi, and set off the nine curves of the boat, which is a year away. It is amazing. Because of the imitation of Juran’s pen, I am sending Zhong to announce that I am lucky to reach it. In the winter of 1911, the square pot is embedded in the knowledge of Wushi Mountain.” The seal “square pot is clear and hidden”. “Zhizheng Jihai” is the 19th year of the Zhizheng era of the Yuan Dynasty (1359). This picture should be the work of Fang’s late years. “Wushi Mountain”, which is called Min Mountain, is located in Minhou County, Fujian Province
This seal has 15 seals, including “Bian Lingzhi Appraisal”, “Shiqu Treasure Collection”, “Chen Rentao”, “Treasure of the Emperor Qianlong”, “Sanxitang Precise Seal”, “Suitable for Descendants”, “Xinshang”, “Golden Chamber Treasure Chen Rentao”, “Qianlong Appreciation”, “Tan”, “Jing” (Fang Lianzhu), “Xu An”, “Ancient Qian and Chen Shaoshi Collection of Monuments”, “An Shi Yi Zhou Calligraphy and Painting Seal”, “Shi Gu Tang Calligraphy and Painting”
It is recorded in Volume 19 of the Grand View Collection, Volume 23 of the Collection of Paintings and Calligraphy in Shigutang, and Volume 1 of the Collection of Paintings and Calligraphy in Baoyu Pavilion.
