This picture is based on the plot of “Liu Yi’s biography” in the Tang novel “Liu Yi’s biography”. It describes the story of the daughter of the Dragon King of Dongting who was abused by her husband and herded sheep on the bank of the Jing River. The scholar Liu Yi met the dragon girl and handed the book to her in a righteous way, which finally saved the dragon girl. The author selects the moment when Liu Yi dismounted and bowed to meet, and the Dragon King and his attendants went out to welcome the invitation. The ups and downs of the waves in the palace of the Dragon King show a very different environment from the ordinary world. The calm of Liu Yi and the courtesy of the Dragon King have successfully portrayed the character and mentality of the characters, while the blank space at the top of the picture, like clouds and fog, has extended the painting and created an artistic conception.
