[Zhang Zeduan’s Qingming Riverside Map Volume]

The Qingming Riverside Map Volume, written by Zhang Zeduan in the Northern Song Dynasty, is a silk version with light colors, 24.8 cm in length and 528 cm in width
The Picture of the River on the Qingming Festival depicts the bustling scene inside and outside the Dongjiaozi Gate of Bianjing (now Kaifeng, Henan Province), the capital of the Northern Song Dynasty, and on both sides of the Bianhe River during the Qingming Festival. The whole picture can be divided into three sections:
The first section describes the suburban scenery, with low thatched eaves and crisscross paths, and people traveling between them
The middle section takes “Shangtu Bridge” as the center, and draws the scenery of Bian River and both banks. The wooden structure bridge in the middle, which is as large as a flying rainbow, is generally called “Hongqiao”, or “Shangtu Bridge”. It is the junction of water and land transportation. The traffic on the bridge is like a shuttle, the merchants are dense, and the pedestrians are bustling. A water tanker under the bridge was lowering its mast and trying to pass through the bridge hole. The intense work of the boatman attracted many people to watch
The following paragraph describes the streets in the city. The shops in the city are lined up in rows. The front of the big store is also tied with the Colorful Louhuan Gate. The small store is just an open shed. In addition, there are Gonghe Temple. The streets are crowded with pedestrians, and there is an endless stream of cars, horses and camels. Among the pedestrians are gentlemen, officials, servants, traffickers, footmen, sedan bearers, workshop workers, storytellers, barbers, doctors, fortune tellers, women of your family, walking monks, naughty children, and even beggars. They have different identities, different clothes and different clothes. They are in the same street, but they are busy and busy, and have different joys and sorrows. The transportation vehicles in the city include sedan chairs, camel caravans, cattle, horses, donkey carts, rickshaws, etc. There are many kinds of vehicles, such as tandem cars, Taiping cars, and flat-headed cars, which represent the prosperity of the Bian capital market. The tall gate tower, named Dongjiao Gate, is located in the southeast of the inner city of Bianjing
The contents of the whole volume are rich and vivid, and the life of Bianjing, the capital city of the Northern Song Dynasty in the 12th century, is intensively and concisely reproduced
This painting is written with both pen and work. It is elegant in color and is different from the general boundary painting, that is, the so-called “number of different families”. The composition adopts the bird’s-eye panoramic method, which depicts the typical area of the southeast corner of Bianjing at that time. The author uses the traditional scroll form and adopts “scatter perspective” to organize the picture. The picture is long but not verbose, complex but not disorderly, tight and compact, as if it were completed at one time. The scenery taken in the painting is as large as the silent fields, vast rivers and towering city walls; As small as the characters in the boat, the display goods on the street vendors, and the words on the market signs, there is no loss. The pictures of more than 500 characters are interspersed with a variety of plots, which are organized in an orderly manner and have fun at the same time
There are 13 inscriptions on the back, including Jin Zhang and Wu Kuan of the Ming Dynasty, with 96 square seals
The Qinghe Calligraphy and Painting Boat, the Records of Gengzi Selling Summer, the Records of Calligraphy and Painting in Shigutang and other books.
