This painting is the second of the two consecutive thousand Buddha seated figures. The outer frame is painted with a lotus petal-shaped niche, and the lower part is a diamond-shaped flower pattern. The niche is painted with Buddha sitting on the seat of Yanglian. The Buddha has a bun on his head, ears hanging over his shoulders, and a peaceful face. There are head lights and body lights on his back. There are flame patterns on his head lights. This two-part continuous image of the Thousand Buddhas is often used as the edge decoration of the Buddhist scriptures or as illustrations in the scriptures
This painting was donated by Mr. Shao Xunmei of Shanghai to the Palace Museum in 1957.
