Stone painted Buddha head, Tang Dynasty, 36.5 cm high and 19.5 cm wide
The head of Buddha has a wavy bun, a round and plump face, arched eyebrows, eyes slightly open, nose high and straight, lips closed, corners of mouth closed, and a quiet and calm manner. This figure comes from Longmen Grottoes. The sculptor is exquisite and accurate, and the description of the character’s demeanor is quite accurate. It is a rare artistic masterpiece of the Tang Dynasty.
