The Avalokitesvara sits with his hands crossed, wears a treasure crown on his head, and there is Buddha in the crown. The bodhisattva has a plump face, two ears pierced with rings, a bald head at the back, a cassock, and a topless chest decorated with wreaths; With six arms, the upper two arms each hold a round wheel, in which there are the sun and the moon represented by birds and trees respectively. The left hand of the middle two arms is used to make the impression, while the right hand is not clear because of the faint impression. The lower two arms hold the lotus in the left hand and the object in the right hand. There is a row on the top right side of the list: “Save Avalokitesvara”. There is a female donor on the left and right, wearing a bun and a dark red skirt
Ruyi Quanyin is one of the six Guanyin in esoteric Buddhism, and its image is generally six-arm phase. As for the treasures and prints held by them, there are many differences according to the different tracks. According to the Ruyi Wheel Yoga Recitation Method, the Ruyi Wheel Guanyin has six arms, a golden body, a bun on its head, and a solemn crown to show its solemnity. Six arms means that you can swim in the six paths and relieve all kinds of sufferings of the six paths of sentient beings with great compassion
This painting was donated to the Palace Museum by Mr. Shao Xunmei of Shanghai in 1957. At that time, the packaging was still in use. It was wrapped in kraft paper on a reel, with the words “Received by the Palace Museum Cultural Relics Collection Office/Sent by Shao Xunmei at 1754/19 Huaihai Middle Road, Shanghai” on it. The postmark indicated that it was sent from July 8, 1957.
