[Bronze gilded gold statue of Zhang Xiang female]
The bronze gilded gold statue of Zhang Xiang female was made in the third year of Xinghe in the Eastern Wei Dynasty (541). The height of the image is 15.3 cm
The statue is divided into the main statue and the threatening image. The threatening image has a tenon at the foot side, which is combined with the main image after casting. The Lord Buddha is like two Buddhas, with a bun protruding in a hemispherical shape, wearing a full-shouldered cassock, hands making statements, and sitting on a rectangular summitsu with folded hands. The Lord has a flanking attendant on the left and right sides, all dressed in bhikkhu costumes, standing with arched hands and looking pious. Behind the two Buddhas, there is a backlight decorated with flame patterns. A lotus flower is carved in the middle and upper part of the backlight, and under the lotus flower, there are also carved flames behind each of the two Buddhas. The flames are all decorated with clouds of flame patterns. The roof is carved on the top of the backlight to show the holiness of the Buddha. At the bottom of the statue is a four-legged bed, on which is engraved the inscription “On February 3, the third year of Xinghe, Zhang Xiangnv of Gaoling Village was born and died □ □ Xin20A □ □ □, and was seen in the body of the elder brother and sister Xinjie □ □ □ Guanyin, □ 7……, and was saved □ blessed”. The golden bronze statue of the two Buddhas sitting side by side is a popular image form from the Northern Dynasty to the Kaihuang period of the Sui Dynasty. Its subject matter is based on Sakyamuni and Duobao Buddhas in the Fahua Sutra. The image is ingenious in conception, unique in shape, novel in design and quite ingenious, and has important historical and artistic value
