Yang Tianren and others made stone Maitreya Buddha, the fifth year (528 years) of the King of Zhou Zhen in the Northern Dynasty, with a residual height of 33 cm
Maitreya sat on a rectangular banded sumata, with his left hand giving a vow seal, and his right hand giving a statement seal. He wore a “bodega bodega” style cassock, a long skirt, and a monk’s leg inside. The lower hem of the cassock and the skirt covered the seat. The pattern of the dress is zigzag and has clear layers, that is, the pattern of sheep intestines. The pleats are thick and the cross section is triangular. Both the Buddha head and the upper part of the backlight are lost. The outer layer of the backlight is flame pattern, and the inner layer is serrated pattern
Right side of square stone seat On the back side is carved a vow: “On the eighth day of the first month of the fifth year of the king’s reign, the two hundred people in the city of Shangquyang, including Weina Yang Tianren, made a Maitreya statue (body) for the fallen city. The upper part is the royal family, and the lower part is the suffering people. See (now) the existing Yiyi city, the same birth of the Jingguo, the living □ □ □ Buddha □ Dharma, wishing to become a Buddha, and seeking the best.”
This stone statue is one of the stone statues unearthed at the site of Xiude Temple in Quyang, Hebei in 1954
