Stone statue square tower

[Stone statue square tower]

The stone statue square tower has a residual height of 14cm
The tower is pavilion-style, which should have three floors, but now only the upper and second floors of the tower are left. The upper part of the tower is surrounded by round arched lintel niches. On the first side, the main statue is a scrawny figure with a sitting meditation seal, which shows the content of the Prince Sakyamuni’s ascetic practice. On both sides of the niche are a pair of standing bodhisattvas, holding flower branches, topless and wearing a long skirt; A pair of kneeling donors, hands together. In the second niche, the Buddha is seated with open arms, with fearless and willing seals. He is wearing a right shawl cassock. Outside the niche, there is a statue of the thought Buddha on the left and right sides, sitting on the hoof seat under the tree. On the third side of the niche are Sakyamuni and Duobao Buddhas and seated statues, wearing a right shawl cassock. Outside the niche, there are standing Bodhisattvas and kneeling worshippers, and there are two kneeling worshippers in front of the niche. In the fourth niche, the Buddha sat with his hands folded, and performed the meditation seal. There were standing Bodhisattva and kneeling Bodhisattva on the left and right. In the first niche of the second floor, Sakyamuni and Duobao Buddha sit side by side. There are three statues of Bodhisattva on the left and right sides, only the head; On the second side, the main statue is the Buddha, with two Bodhisattvas on the left and two on the right. The third side is a tabernacle niche. The main figure in the niche is a Bodhisattva, with his hair tied, his upper body bare, and he is wearing a wreath, a collar, and an armband. On the right side, you can see the two bowed and ten donors. On the left and right sides of the niche, there is a flying body. In the fourth niche is a Buddha with a fearless seal in one hand, and on the left and right are standing Bodhisattvas and kneeling donors. The tower is made of limestone, which is similar to the statue stone tower in Beiliang period. The subject matter and style characteristics of its shape and statue are similar to those of the four square towers and statues in Dunhuang, Yungang, Longmen and other caves in the Northern Wei Dynasty, known as “bottom making” or “Zhiti” (meaning “tower temple”), as well as the Jiuquan Cao Tianbao Statue Tower. Although the tower is incomplete, it is still a rare work of research value
