Jade eagle grabs people’s headgear

[Jade eagle grabs people’s head pendant]

Jade eagle grabs people’s head pendant, which is 9.1 cm long, 5.2 cm wide and 2.9 cm thick
The jade material is cyan yellow, with brown spots in some parts, flaky, slightly thin edges, and the same patterns on both sides. The upper part of the work is an eagle spreading its wings. The eagle’s head turns sideways, and its two claws hang down to grasp one head each. The work is carved, and some decorative patterns on the eagle body are composed of convex lines, which are similar to the jade crafts of Shijiahe culture in the Neolithic Age
Carved jade articles of the same theme have been collected in the Shanghai Museum and the Tianjin Art Museum, and jade guides with similar eagle and bird patterns have also been collected in some museums. Some scholars speculate that these works were made in the late Neolithic Age. The design of this pendant is complex, and the meaning of the decoration between the upper end of the eagle wing and the human head is not clear. The work may represent the totem of the clan in ancient times. The eagle is the emblem of the clan, and the eagle claw should be the first level of the defeated enemy
