在吉林，早在光绪二十四年(1898年)就创办了“吉林永衡官帖局”，之后又设立了“吉林永衡官钱局”，到宣统元年(1909年)吉林督抚陈昭常将官帖、官钱两局合并为一，改名为“吉林永衡官银钱号”。其资金为大洋一千万元，每年所获纯益，数百万元。到民国二十年(1931年)“九·一八”事变以后关闭。这个官办买卖从发行地方纸币开始，后又办理银行性质的业务，逐渐成为吉林全省地方银行。

吉林永衡官银钱号地点在吉林城西大街（今吉林市船营区西大街19号）中间，据《永吉县志》载：“钱号占地千四百二十六方尺，房舍二百二十七间，行政营业兑换所均在内”。
