1934年至1937年间，国民政府为对日作战做准备，在全国建立5处飞机制造厂，即与美国合资的“中央杭州飞机制造厂”、与意大利合作建立的“南昌中央飞机制造厂”、与德国在江西萍乡合办的“中国航空器材有限公司”、广东“韶关飞机制造厂”和海军部“高昌庙飞机制造厂”。
