He visited China from 1931 to 1933, covering many provinces and cities in the northeast, north and southwest of China. He took more than 1100 stereoscopic photos, recording the customs and traditions of China during the Republic of China

建造中的索菲亚教堂。

圣·索菲亚教堂是沙俄东西伯利亚第四步兵师的随军教堂。该师撤离后，隶属哈尔滨的东正教会。1907年，由俄商伊·费·赤斯嘉科夫出资6万卢布在随军教堂基础上重新建一座木制教堂（现已毁）。由于教徒数量增加，1923年又举行了第二次重建典礼，1932年落成并保留至今。彭德尔顿摄于1931年，当时教堂即将竣工。
