Joseph· Joseph Charles Francis Rock (1884-1962) was an American anthropologist, botanist and Naxi cultural researcher. Born in Vienna, Austria. He began to learn Chinese by himself in 1897. 1906 to the United States. He became a citizen of the United States in 1913. He was professor of botany at Hawaii Institute in 1919. Since 1922, he has been to China for six times, and went deep into the ethnic areas in Yunnan, Sichuan and Kangxi

It was the first time to visit China from 1922-1924, from Bangkok to Lijiang, to Muli in the southwest of Sichuan, passing through Naxi, Yi and Tibetan areas. When he returned home, he carried 80000 plant specimens and cultural relics and documents

Local photos were taken in Sichuan, Gansu, Yunnan and Qinghai from 1924-1932

Zhuoni County is located in the east of the Qinghai Tibet Plateau. Zhuoni County is located in Gansu Province and the southeast of Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. There are more than 10 ethnic groups, including Tibetan, Han, Hui, Tu, Manchu and Miao. The Tibetan population accounts for 62% of the total population

第十九代卓尼土司 杨积庆

明朝正德三年(1508年),第五代土司(旺秀)进京,皇帝赐名杨洪,卓尼土司自此姓杨。

1935年红军长征时经过甘南,杨积庆提供不少粮食衣物,并秘密协助带路
