On June 2, 1861, the French government and the Qing government signed the terms of the French Concession in Tianjin Zizhulin, which delineated the French Concession and located in the north of the British Concession, covering an area of 439 mu. Tianjin French Concession has expanded twice in history. In 1900, the French Concession in Tianjin expanded westward to the Qiangzihe (now Nanjing Road), expanding the concession area by four times to 2360 mu.
