Share a group of old photos of Dalian from 1930s to 1940s. Let’s have a look at the urban landscape of Dalian 80 years ago
This group of old photos comes from postcards issued by Japanese at that time, when Dalian was occupied by Japan. Dalian and Lushun were the first small fishing villages. They were occupied by Russia in 1898 and established a port in Lushun, named“ Port Arthur”, Dalian Bay was ceded at the same time, named“ Darlini Port”. The sudden attack on Jinzhou in 1900 made the whole area south of Jinzhou occupied by Russia. In 1904, when the Russo Japanese War broke out and Russia was defeated, the occupied area south of the former Jinzhou ceded to Japan was given. Port Arthur was renamed Lushun, and Dalini was renamed Dalian; Kanto Prefecture”, Like Taiwan, it is regarded as a Japanese territory, but Kanto Prefecture is defined as a free port and has become a veritable special zone. This situation lasted until Japan was defeated in 1945
From this group of photos, we can also see that Dalian in the 1940s was already an extremely prosperous international metropolis
