Zhu Duan, the character Kezheng, was born in Haiyan. He was a fisherman and a woodcutter. He entered the palace at the end of the Hongzhi period. During the Zhengde period (1506-1521), the official “Royal Commander” was awarded a “book for a woodcutter”, so he changed his name to “a woodcutter”.
