Zhu Fu (who was active in the second half of the 14th century AD) served as a scholar in the middle school in the early years of Hong Wu (1368-1398). He was good at drawing reed geese, landscapes and line drawing characters, as well as working words and calligraphy. This painting depicts a clear and moist night mountain under the moon. A cloud is winding down to the bamboo, reed and grass where geese gather, while a solitary bird stands on the willow tree in the foreground swaying in the strong wind. The painting is elegant and light, which is deep in the misty water of Xiaoxiang. The Emperor Qianlong wrote a poem in the 28th year of Qianlong’s reign (1763), expressing his appreciation of this work.
