  • Description:
Yan Zhenqing (709-785) and Yang Ningshi (873-954) are the two most respected calligraphers of Dong Qichang. He believes that Cai, Su, Huang and Mi all originated from them. Yan Shu is naive, with an outspoken posture, which is deeply inspired by the right army’s spiritual harmony. Yang Ning’s style is derived from Yan Zhenqing and Huaisu’s writing skills. They are the only two ancient calligraphers who can reach the extreme, which Zhao Mengfu (1254-1322) cannot understand, and contemporary people cannot understand because they are blinded by the Zhao character. The composition and ethereal feeling of Dong’s Shulang character are derived from Yang Ning’s “Chive Flower Calligraphy”. The two posters on display are all written in their own handwriting, which is easy and natural, and there is no obvious intention of copying.
