  • Description:
Zhu Xian, a native of Wujin, Jiangsu Province, was born at an unknown age and died at about 83. He is good at drawing grass and insects, but he does not deliberately pursue neatness. He often uses reed grass or wheat straw instead of a brush to depict flowers and insects vividly. This painting was completed when he was seventy-three years old. In the painting, morning glory is surrounded by reeds, blooming with beautiful blue flowers, surrounded by katydids, mantis, butterflies and small rain frogs. Although the material selection and layout are only common scenes in the wild, through the painter’s casual style and elegant colors, people can enjoy the incomparably fresh and happy feeling.
