The “Four Filial Pieties” depicts four stories, which are expressed in a graphic and textual way. The first one said that Wang Wuzi’s wife cut her thigh to make soup to cure her mother-in-law’s cold disease; The second said that Lu Ji of the Three Kingdoms, because his mother was fond of eating oranges, held oranges to serve his mother during the visit to Yuan Shu; The third said that Wang Xiang of Jin thought of eating carp in the winter moon when his mother was ill, and he went to the river to lie on ice to seek carp; The fourth said that Cao E’s father drowned in the river in the later Han Dynasty. He was not allowed to be dead. He went to E to throw himself into the river and took his father’s body out three days later. They are all touching deeds of filial piety. At the end of the volume, Li Jujing’s four filial piety figures are attached to discuss the essence of filial piety. Full width characters are mainly symmetrical lines, thin and strong.
