  • Description:
Gu An (active from 1345 to 1373), a native of Jiangsu, was named after him. Calligraphy is like Zhao Mengfu. It is famous for its ink bamboo. It imitates Wen Tong of the Northern Song Dynasty and Li Yan and Zhao Mengfu of the Yuan Dynasty. Their strokes are vigorous and integrated with the charm of calligraphy. There are three bamboos among the painted slope stones. The branches are strong, and the stems and leaves are flipped and fluttering against the wind. Use the pen to change the shade to set off the misty atmosphere. The composition is simple, focusing on dynamic performance, with realistic spirit, and rich in literati’s freehand brushwork.
