Description:
Fragment of wall-painting. Shown are head and shoulders of the Buddha, probably seated in meditation pose before a mandorla. The head is surrounded by a nimbus and turned to the right side, the eyes looking in the same direction. Clearly visible are the elongated earlobes and the third eye (ūrṇā) in the middle of the forehead. All the outlines are painted in bright red, the robe was then coloured in in a dark red or brown, while hair, lashes and eyebrows are black. The backing of the wall-painting is made of plaster mixed with organic fibres. It was covered by an additional layer of stucco upon which then was painted.
