Description:
Wall sherd of a ceramic vessel with appliqué decoration. The decoration of the wheel-thrown vessel consists of a geometric pattern of incised lines as well two appliqué plaques, one depicting a lion’s face, the other a rosette. The animal is shown in full frontal view, mouth open, head surrounded by a mane. The remains of a handle are still visible. The vessel was covered with a light brown slip before being fired.
