Description:
Examples of this pattern woven purple silk gauze are found in both the V&A and British Museum collections. For the ground weave, doup ends (the warp threads which cross over other warp ends) cross the fixed ends (the warp threads that are stationary) in one direction, but in the pattern area, the doup ends float above the fixed ends, identifying the weave as a simple gauze. Such textiles appeared in the late Tang. There are many fragments of this textiles, some in the V&A Museum’s collection (LOAN:STEIN.652). Weave structures: Warp: silk, untwisted, single, purple, 32 ends/cm; Weft: silk, untwisted, single but thick, purple, 16 lats/cm; Weave structure: ground: 1:1 doup warp crossing fixed warp in one direction; pattern: floating of doup warp on fixed warp. 暗花紗殘片，呈三角形。其地部由絞經和地經一順絞織而成，其花部則由絞經經浮産生，屬於簡單紗羅之類。其圖案由方格紋、卍字紋和小點組成，圖案循環經向約爲7.2cm，緯向不明。此類紗殘片甚多，大英博物館和V&A博物館均有收藏（LOAN:STEIN.652）。 組織結構： 經線：絲，無撚，單根排列，紫色，32根/cm；緯線：絲，無撚，單根排列但是較粗，紫色，16根/cm；組織：地部，1:1 一順絞轉；紋部：絞經浮於地經之上。
