This volume describes the life story of Tao Qian (365-427), a famous poet in the Jin and Song Dynasties. Tao Qian, named Yuanming, was born in Zisang, Xunyang, Jiangxi Province. He used to offer sacrifices to the state, and later was Peng Zeling; Because he did not bow down for five measures of rice, he abandoned his official position and retired to seclusion. He worked hard for himself and entertained himself with poetry and wine. In his later years, he was poor and ill. Later generations called him Mr. Jingjie, a symbol of a scholar.
