- Description:
Gong Kai (1222-1307 AD) was born in Huaiyin, Jiangsu Province. The word “Holy and” is a holy gift, named Cuiyan. At the end of the Song Dynasty, he once served as a supervisor in the Lianghuai system. After the fall of the Song Dynasty, he lived in deep seclusion. The painter Ma Yuan learned from Cao Ba (in the eighth century), and his drawing is very rough. He especially likes to make Zhong Kui, the ink ghost, with a strange style. If the collection of “Zhong Jinshi’s Migration Map” is called “Gong Kai’s Travel Map in Zhongshan” in the Folier Art Museum of the United States, the painting style is completely different. Many auspicious objects in the painting, such as Yuanbao, Kuixing, wind lanterns, ladders, cats, fish, bats, spiders, etc., are common in the works of the Ming Dynasty. It can be inferred that the painting should be completed no earlier than the Ming Dynasty.
