Description:
The “West Garden Gathering” is a story about a banquet held by more than ten people, including Su Shi and Huang Tingjian, famous scholars of the Northern Song Dynasty, in the court of Emperor Shen, the son-in-law. This axis is divided into five groups to depict the participants in the rally. They are gathered to watch Su Shi, Li Gonglin, Mi Fu and others write, draw or inscribe stones. There are Chen Jingyuan playing Ruan, and Liu Jing talking with Master Yuantong. There are many versions of “Xiyuan Yaji”, which is the same manuscript as Qiu Ying’s “Xiyuan Yaji”. The official script of Shitang, “The Painting of the Elegant Collection in the West Garden”, was signed by Yu Ji. The content can be found in the Dongli Collection, a sequel by Yang Shiqi of the Ming Dynasty. The description is not this axis. Although it was named Zhao Mengfu, the painting was completed about the Ming Dynasty.
