The bottom of the utensil is engraved with a regular script in the 58th year of Qianlong’s reign (1793): “Elliptical pieces came out of Yue kilns. It is longer than the Tang and Song dynasties. It is neither a plate nor a dish. It is a sincere and useless utensil. Why are treasures the same as nine? Because of the deep reading of the years, the vicissitudes of life are precious to each other. The bun is cultivated and seven nails are preserved. The Tang and Song dynasties may not take it.
