Description:
Jacket; part of woman’s market and minor festival costume As.1998.1.164 to 169 a & b. Base cloth of hand-spun, hand-woven cotton, dyed indigo to almost black and made very shiny on outer surface. Decorated with applied pieces of hand-woven silk decoration, except for two small pieces of embroidery on silk felt. Colours include acid pink and yellows, with red and blue on green. Front has no decraotion except for horizontal stitching in red and yellow, white and black, across green neck binding. At sides of back are embroidered triangles with bird motifs, swastikas on sleeves.
