Description:
A layman’s hat, with pendant, ‘finial’ and fringing. Domed crown with straight sides; wide brim [8 cms wide]. Made from polychrome brocaded silk with cloud and dragon motifs. Section covered by red plied silk fringing made from red tabby cotton cloth. Coral (?) ‘finial’ / ‘button’ (in fragments), with domed silver (?) base, with green jade cylinder, attached to middle top. Brim lined with large-scale red brocaded cloth (silver strip on satin silk) Crown lined with mid-blue (indigo dyed?) tabby cotton cloth.
