Comments:Huang Quan is regarded as one of the fathers of the bird and flower genre of Chinese painting. This is one of many later works to bear his name, which was sometimes falsely added to make a painting seem older and more valuable. The actual painter – who probably lived during the Yuan dynasty (1279–1368) – may have intended the winter season to convey a sense of sadness, as China was ruled by resented foreigners during his lifetime.
