Porcelain flask of baoyue form with two strap handles. Underglaze blue with a roundel on each side with a four-square five-clawed dragon amid flames and stylised clouds with a flaming pearl at the centre. There is an inscription on the base.

Comments:Published PDF date : Qing Yonzheng 1723-1725 Room 95 label text:PDF C614Pilgrim flask with dragons in roundelsQing potters have modelled this flask on an early fifteenth century form. It is decorated in Qing eighteenth century style with a roundel on either side framing a dragon. On the base is a two character inscription in underglaze blue which reads宣和(xuanhe ‘all pervading peace’).
