Comments:Shang/Early Western Zhou. Length 86mm. Height 31mm. See Bluett 1973, and Rawson 1995, p.227, cat.no.12.30. Western Zhou period, c. 950BC. This bird pendant has its head drawn forward and it has a hooked beak. An incised circle stands for an eye, and a horn-like crest is indicated by incised lines. Long wing feathers rise out of the scroll that forms the breast. More even than the previous bird does the long bifurcated tail resemble that of a fish. Indeed, behind the small claw is a fin embellished with incised lines. There is a small perforation at the breast.
