Comments:The recumbent pig well executed with broad, ridged snout which is flat has two small round indents representing nostrils, slants upwards to a head with incised eyes and with ears, limbs and joints bevelled cut. The rear of the pig also cut flat with a tail curling onto its back. A perforation runs through an extension below its snout with another through the curled tail. The base is flat and displays delineated limbs and hoofs. See Rawson 1995, p.320, cat.no.24.11. Although very similar in pose and form to 368 [2014,AsiaLoan,1.36] and 443 [2014,AsiaLoan,1.38], this pig is more realistic, with carefully delineated legs and trotters and a snout that is slightly raised. The ears are more fully represented than on the previous pigs. This pig can be compared with one from Shandong Juye Hongtushan. Many such creatures became even more realistic, as illustrated by two examples in the British Museum.
