Description:
Fragment of a clay relief plaque showing the head and upper body of a gandharva. Gandharvas are male nature spirits said to have superb musical skills. The one depicted here holds a garland and wears large round earrings as well as two bands fastened into a ribbon over the chest. The upper body is naked, the hair in a topknot and the head is surrounded by a nimbus.
