Fragmentary clay plaque showing the Buddha. He was seated in meditation pose against a vesica, which is now lost. His legs are crossed, the eyes closed and the hands held in meditation position (dhyāna mudrā). The head with strongly elongated earlobes and the clearly visible protuberance was once surrounded by a halo, remains of which can still be seen. The figure was made of yellowish clay using a mould and was covered with a white slip before being fired.
