Description:
Guan stoneware dish with shallow, sloping sides and everted, six-lobed rim, on a recessed base. The dish has a bluish-grey glaze with wide, brown-stained crackle. The dish has an inscription, and six spur marks on the base, which is glazed.

Qianlong bingshen xia yuti It has an iron foot, and crackled ice pattern from its high firing. Its rim is six-petalled like a flower, but its body is round. This form is not so rare as vases or cups. Objects of beauty are fragile, but those of simple strength endure. Composed by the Qianlong emperor in the Summer of the cyclical year bingshen [AD 1776]. A seal at end of inscription reads: 古香 guxiang ‘ancient fragrance’.
