Zhao Xu, the Song Zhezong (1077-1100), the son of the Shenzong, was the seventh emperor of the Northern Song Dynasty (1085-1100). In the eighth year of Yuanfeng, the Shenzong died, and the Zhezong ascended the throne. He was only nine years old when he ascended the throne, and he reigned for fifteen years. He restored several new systems promoted by Wang Anshi (1021-1086), and fought many times for the Western Xia Dynasty. He died of illness at the age of 23.
